Scoliosis affects an estimated six to nine million people in the United States, alone. The majority of these cases are considered “mild”, meaning the condition can be managed with appropriate exercise. But there are several problems.
Knowing what exercises to do can be confusing. Free online videos either don’t address scoliosis specifically, or you have no way of knowing whether the exercise is appropriate for your specific curve, and whether the person posting the video is qualified.
Popular exercise programs like yoga and Pilates have a similar problem – while some exercises are appropriate for some curves, doing the wrong exercise for your curve can actually cause harm and make your scoliosis worse!
Visiting a physical therapist certified in proper scoliosis techniques is an option, but the expense and the time spent going to appointments can put a serious strain on your life, causing you undue stress, or worse – missing appointments or even not performing the exercises at all.
